I used to think this would help, I was wrong!

In the past I have thought to myself, “What if I was in a car accident, how would I help protect myself”?
I have acutally been in 2 quite bad car accidents both before I was over 10 so I know how scary they can be.One of them was when my mom got low blood sugar(Diabetic) and ran off the road into the ditch totaling the car. I was in a booster seat in the back then.
The next time was when I was a bit old and we were on our way to Florida for vacation. It was raining so hard and then all the sudden we Hydro-planed off the road and started spinning like you do on ice. We were going like 60 miles an hour and so it was scary as all get out. We ran down a HUGE slanted ditch about 15 feet tall or so and slid down it into a tree to a nice quick stop.
We called the cop and the cop, get this gave us a ticket for calling him out in the rain. Yeah we did not pay it either! We got towed out and I remember not letting my dad drive again until I prayed to Jesus and asked him to give us a nice trip from then on.
Well I have thought being new cars have air bags that if I wanted to protect my face in a accident or just prevent wiplash I would put my feet on the dash and brace myself. It seems like a good idea that would help make hard impacts safer on a person. I was so wrong after I saw this picture on flickr of a guy who tried the same thing and found out that he should have kept his feet on the floor instead.

I now know that if I want to brace myself I better just keep my feet pressed against the floor. The driver in the crash where this guy messed up his foot was un-injured!
