Does sexual content in commercials make you want the product?

Everywhere you look you will see ads. Companies are just screaming for our attention and they use all kinds of things in ads to try and get our attention.

In some parts of the world they do use partial nudity which is way over the top and is just porn.

The big question is “Does seeing somebody is skimpy clothing or no clothing in a ad ever make you want the product being advertised?”

I will just make up a commercial out of my head:

Your sitting on your couch watching tv and you see a scene of pretty girls in bikini’s playing in the ocean. Then after 15 seconds of that one runs onto the beach and grabs a coke out of a cooler.

I know that was brief but I just made it up. In my example does that make you want a coke? I mean more than likely you are just going to being drooling over the girls and not the product.

To me watching Paris Hilton wash a car while holding a burger does not make me want to buy one.
Its about the burger, not the girl in a bathing suit, so why show her at all?

Sure, your flipping through channels and you see girls in bikini’s and you may stop and say “What is that?”. Then once you have seen it does it make you want to buy a product just because of the sexual content of the commercial?

To me it does not. What do you all think? Be sure and comment! Below is a video of a guy talking about sexual content in ads. Its very funny as its sorta a parody to the “On your side” News shows do.

Shh, don’t tell the ad companies. They might stop putting girls in bikinis in their commercials!
