Teenager gets his head chopped off by the Batman ride at Six Flags over Georgia
This one is just one of many accidental deaths caused by rides. This 17 year old guy lost his hat on the batman ride. For the most part hats are cheap and easily replaceable so there was no need to worry unless his hat was special. He should have asked someone to get it for him but most parks wont do this for you for anything unless maybe its your wallet with your drivers liscense, cash and credit cards in it.
Basically they wont do it unless its something really needed and really important which is not a hat.
When I get on a ride everything is secured either in my hand or in a zipper pocket on my pants. This kid must not have done this as he lost his hat.
Well he really wanted his hat. So what does he do? He looks at those signs that say they wont get your item and decides to go get the hat himself. Even though it probably says to stay out he just was going to get his hat and come back. So he climbs over the fence only to get his head knocked off and killed by the ride.
This story confuses me. For one it takes so many minutes for the ride to “GET AROUND” the track so why didn’t he go as soon as it started or after it went by where his hat was. Then I wonder why he did not simply watch it go by and THEN grab his hat. Then I can wonder why he did not “CHECK WHERE THE COASTER WAS ON THE TRACK” BEFORE bending over to grab his hat. Whatever the reason he sadly got killed by the Batman roller coaster at Six Flags over Georgia.

This is an unfortunate occurrance however you look at it but I wonder how this was ever allowed to happen. Of course I haven’t seen the set up and what if any warnings and safeguards are in place but surely it should not be possible for anyone to be able to obtain access to dangerous areas while the ride is in motion.

Unfortunate, for sure, but kinda ironic really, going after your hat and ending up not needing one.

Umm, just a thought, but there are quite a few coasters that have more than one set of cars, is it possible he saw one set go by and went grab the hat only to have another come bump his head off?

It was an extremely tragic event. So sad the boy didn’t heed the posted warnings.
The park had not one, but two, 6 foot fences - clearly marked with KEEP OUT signs.
Also, a friend who works at Six Flags says that people (i.e. maintenance staff) are only allowed in at scheduled times at which the roller coaster is shut down because this particular ride is very dangerous to people on the ground. Also, I’m not certain, but I’m sure there are a couple of different “trains” that ride the track, so there probably isn’t very much time at all between looping trains.

It’s not the same thing, but I have worked as a lift operator at a ski resort. No matter what sign you put up, what fence, rope, or barricade is there, someone will decide it doesn’t apply to them. We had a girl knocked unconscious just bending over to pick up a glove putting her head directly in the path of an oncoming chair. People don’t realize how dangerous things can be.

I don’t really understand how you can say that this boys death was caused by the RIDE. ? .

Darwin Award nominee!

Darwin Award indeed,
From the facts I have heard, the boy saw the signs and engaged in a very risky act without making calculations before proceeding. I feel bad for his family, but I really feel no pity or sense of loss when people commit suicide by stupidity.
